Fed up with Mayor Ed Zabrocki's cheating taxpayers with his special "deals", residents have filed a lawsuit seeking to recover public funds. Even though an Ordinance requires the garbage Contractor to pay the Village the "actual value" of all recyclables collected, Zabrocki has never required, what the CHICAGO TRIBUNE has described as "a firm tied to a political insider", to do that. While property taxes have continually risen, the money from recycling has been pocketed by the refuse company.
